Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Orders State-Wide Action on Illegal Residents

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed the police department to launch an extensive drive to identify and take action against individuals living in the state with fake identification documents.

Dehradun, April 17, 2025 — Taking a firm stance on growing concerns around law and order, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed the police department to launch an extensive drive to identify and take action against individuals living in the state with fake identification documents.

During a high-level meeting with senior police officials on Thursday, CM Dhami emphasized the need to maintain Uttarakhand’s reputation as a peaceful and law-abiding state. He ordered the police to track down those residing illegally using forged papers and take strict legal action against individuals or networks helping such intruders obtain fake certificates.

“The peaceful image of Uttarakhand should not become a shield for criminal elements. We must ensure they do not find a safe haven here,” the Chief Minister stated, urging the police administration to remain alert and proactive.

Alongside the directive on fake identities, CM Dhami also took serious note of the increasing influence of the drug mafia in some regions. He instructed the police to intensify operations against drug traffickers and take swift and uncompromising action to uproot such networks.

In addition, the Chief Minister expressed concern over the delay in filing First Information Reports (FIRs) related to cyber crimes. Highlighting the growing menace of online fraud and digital threats, he called for an urgent review and sought a detailed report on the status of pending cases. He made it clear that timely action in cybercrime cases is essential to maintain public trust in law enforcement.

To improve overall policing efficiency, CM Dhami stressed the need for reform at every level of the police department. He urged the Director General of Police (DGP) to strengthen internal accountability and ensure action is taken against any police personnel found guilty of misconduct or negligence.

The directives reflect the government’s intent to tighten its grip on unlawful activities and reinforce discipline within the police force. As the administration prepares for a state-wide crackdown, all eyes are now on how these instructions translate into ground-level action in the coming weeks.
