Adi Kailash Yatra Begins from Pithoragarh with ‘Save the Himalayas’ Oath

The first group of Adi Kailash pilgrims, organized by Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam, was flagged off from Pithoragarh by Mayor Kalpana Dewlal.

This 20-member team includes devotees from Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Uttarakhand. Before departing, KMVN Manager Dinesh Gururani led the group in taking the ‘Save the Himalayas’ pledge, encouraging everyone to protect the delicate Himalayan environment during Adi Kailash Yatra. Each pilgrim received a sapling to plant along the route, reinforcing the message of ecological responsibility. Gururani also urged participants to avoid littering and help preserve the region’s unique biodiversity.

Mayor Dewlal expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for elevating this sacred border area on the national pilgrimage map and giving a boost to religious tourism. Pilgrims were moved by the environmental commitment. Participant Chandrashekhar Khulbe shared that joining the effort to keep the Himalayas clean felt deeply meaningful, and he hopes to inspire others to do the same.

The group set out with a sense of excitement and devotion, chanting “Har Har Mahadev.” Repeat pilgrims of Adi Kailash Yatra Swaraaj Yadav and Savi Chandran expressed their thankfulness for another opportunity to visit Adi Kailash, traveling by road this time feels like a special blessing and a unique experience
