A helicopter heading to Kedarnath from Badasu (Sirsi) had to make an emergency landing on the highway in Rudraprayag, sparking concern among pilgrims and locals. Fortunately, all passengers and crew members onboard are safe.
The helicopter, operated by Crestel Aviation Private Limited, sustained damage to its rear section during the sudden landing. In addition to the aircraft, a vehicle parked on the highway was also damaged in the process.
Officials from the Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCADA) were quick to respond and have reported the matter to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). A formal investigation into the cause of the emergency landing has been launched.
This marks the fourth aviation-related incident since the Char Dham Yatra began this year. Earlier incidents included an emergency landing near the Kedarnath helipad, where two AIIMS doctors and a pilot narrowly escaped danger. Tragically, last month a helicopter crash near Ganganani in Gangotri claimed the lives of six people.
Despite growing concerns around aviation safety during the pilgrimage, helicopter shuttle services continue to operate on schedule, with authorities closely monitoring the situation.
