More than 4,000 Volunteers to Be Trained Under the ”Yuva Aapda Mitra” Program
If you are a young volunteer in NCC, NSS, Bharat Scouts & Guides, or Nehru Yuva Kendra, then this is your chance to play a crucial role in disaster management! Firstly, the Yuva Aapda Mitra (YAM) Program, launched by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) under the Ministry of Home Affairs and Government of India, aims to train over 4,310 volunteers in Uttarakhand. Additionally, these volunteers will serve as first responders to disasters, making a significant impact in their communities.
Key Highlights of the Program:
✅ Training for 4,310 youth volunteers in Uttarakhand.
✅ Implementation in 11 districts of the state.
✅ 50% of the trainees will be women to ensure gender inclusivity.
✅ Volunteers will receive an Emergency Kit and 3-year life & medical insurance.
✅ Training will cover earthquakes, floods, fire safety, rescue operations, first aid, CPR, and more.
Who Can Apply?
✔️ Age: 18 to 40 years
✔️ Must be a resident of Uttarakhand
✔️ Enrolled in NCC, NSS, Nehru Yuva Kendra, or Bharat Scouts & Guides
✔️ Minimum 7th-grade education
✔️ Physically, mentally, and emotionally fit
What Will Volunteers Get?
After completing the training, volunteers will receive:
✔️ Certificate of Completion from Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority (USDMA).
✔️ An Emergency Kit with life-saving essentials like life jackets, solar torches, safety gloves, first aid kits, safety helmets, raincoats, and more.
✔️ 3-year life and medical insurance coverage.
✔️ Opportunity to become Master Trainers and train others in disaster preparedness.

Uttarakhand is highly vulnerable to earthquakes, landslides, floods, and other natural disasters. Consequently, by becoming a Yuva Aapda Mitra, you will help protect communities, save lives, and contribute to disaster risk reduction.
Furthermore, this program aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiatives, including Mera Yuva Bharat, Yuva Setu, Sabka Prayas, and the 10-Point Agenda on Disaster Risk Reduction. Additionally, it was approved on July 25, 2024, by Home Minister Amit Shah, and is being implemented under the supervision of NDMA.
