In Bageshwar, Two Minor Girls Assaulted and Harassed

Bageshwar, Uttarakhand: In a disturbing incident from the Kapkot area of Bageshwar district, four young men allegedly lured two minor girls into a room, where they physically assaulted and harassed them.

The incident has sparked outrage after a video of the assault went viral on social media, showing the girls being slapped, verbally abused, and forced into humiliating positions while pleading for mercy.

According to police sources, the accused identified as Tanuj Gadiya, Deepak alias Daksh, Yogesh Gadiya (son of Kanchan Singh, resident of Khaibagad, Kapkot), and Lucky Kathayat (son of Khushal Kathayat, resident of Kapkot) of Bageshwar took the girls to a room under false pretenses. There, they not only assaulted the minors but also filmed the entire act.

Following the viral video, the Kapkot Police registered a case under relevant sections of the IPC, along with provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. One of the accused, 23-year-old Yogesh Gadiya, has been arrested. A search operation is underway to apprehend the remaining accused—Lucky Kathayat and Deepak alias Daksh—who are currently absconding.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with locals demanding strict punishment for the culprits. Authorities have assured prompt and strict action to ensure safety and harmony.
