A group of young men in a Bolero marked with a “Government of Uttarakhand” sticker were seen waving a pistol from their moving car in Dehradun.
It felt like a scene straight out of a Bollywood movie on the streets of Dehradun today. A group of young men in a Bolero marked with a “Government of Uttarakhand” sticker were seen waving what looked like a pistol from their moving car, leaving people around them shocked and scared.
A nearby driver managed to record the incident on video, which quickly went viral on social media. The video created panic among the public of Dehradun and caught the attention of the police. Acting quickly, police tracked the vehicle near ISBT and detained three young men.
After questioning, it turned out the gun was just a toy—but it looked real enough to scare anyone. Even though it wasn’t an actual weapon, the police treated the matter seriously. The Bolero, which was found to be working on contract for the state’s Irrigation Department, has been seized. A report has also been sent to the department for further action.
This incident has raised serious concerns about how government-tagged vehicles are being used. Just because the gun was fake doesn’t mean the fear it caused was any less. People expect vehicles with government tags to be used responsibly—not for stunts that cause panic on public roads.
Many are now asking how such behavior was allowed in the first place and why stricter checks aren’t in place. Authorities have promised further investigation and action to make sure such incidents aren’t repeated.
