The district administration is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that pilgrims have a smooth and safe Kedarnath Yatra.
With the sacred Kedarnath Yatra scheduled to begin on May 2, preparations along the route have entered their final phase. One of the major challenges ahead of the pilgrimage is the thick blanket of snow that still covers parts of the trekking route leading to the shrine.
To tackle this, the Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has stepped up efforts to clear the snow well before the Kedarnath Yatra begins. DDMA Executive Engineer Vinay Jhikwaan shared that 270 workers have been assigned to the snow-clearing operation. Among them, 70 are focused on the stretch between Choti Lincholi and Badi Lincholi — one of the trickier segments of the trail — while 200 others are working simultaneously on both the old and new trekking routes.
Jhikwaan emphasized that the target is to make the entire route safe and accessible before the first batch of pilgrims sets out, ensuring that devotees are not inconvenienced by snow or slippery patches along the way. He added that teams are working round-the-clock in challenging weather conditions and difficult terrain to meet the deadline.
With snow removal now picking up speed and efforts being closely monitored, officials remain optimistic. If the weather stays cooperative, the entire route is expected to be cleared in time, paving the way for a successful and hassle-free Kedarnath Yatra season.
