Four youths were taken into custody after a video surfaced online showing them performing dangerous car stunts in the BHEL township area of Ranipur, Haridwar.
The group reportedly under the influence of alcohol was seen driving a Hyundai i10 at high speed and engaging in reckless maneuvers causing a public disturbance
The video which quickly went viral on social media showed the youths hanging out of car windows and dancing while the vehicle was in motion openly flouting traffic rules and putting themselves and others at risk. Police responded immediately and seized the car on the spot taking strict action against those involved. The driver Kushagra Gupta from Dehradun was charged under Section 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act for driving under the influence. While Aryan Gupta and Harsh Gupta (also known as Monty) from Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh and Gaurav Gupta from Karnal, Haryana were arrested under the Police Act 246
Senior police officials stated that the youths were given a stern warning and educated about the dangers of such behavior. They emphasized that Haridwar Police will not tolerate stunts or reckless driving on city roads and that strict action will be taken against anyone found violating traffic laws. Regular checks and awareness campaigns are being conducted to curb such incidents with special attention to underage and stunt driving. Parents are also being counseled to prevent minors from driving and the Junior Traffic Volunteer Force has been launched to spread road safety awareness among students. Police continue to monitor the roads closely and have already taken action against several vehicles during ongoing checks.
